Berlin Trip – Well Done From Siobhan

Well done to all 39 members of the choir who travelled to Berlin to join 2000 singers from 30 countries in singing the Armed Man on November 4th. An especially big thanks to Miriam Byrne for helping to organise such a great and memorable  event.

Away Day – Sept 22nd

The whole choir spends a day rehearsing the full score for the autumn concert, in an environment conducive to singing and socializing. It provides the time and space for members to get to know one another better.   We sing, dine, and party.

VENUE: National Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire.

LOCATION: Beside the East Pier and opposite Dun Laoghaire Library.

PLAN FOR DAY:

  • 10 am: Rehearsal commences.
  • 11am: Coffee/tea break.
  • 1 pm: Lunch.
  • 2pm to 5pm:  Rehearsal.
  • 5pm to 7pm:  Free-time.
  • 7pm onwards Dinner and singsong sharing your favourite party pieces.

Transport: Dart and buses.

Car Parks: Carlisle car park close to N.Y.C.  On entering the exit for N.Y.C. turn left and drive to car park entrance on right.  5 euro for the day.

The main Dun Laoghaire car park entrance is on the same side of the road as the library and close to it. 8 euros for the day.

As most of the choir will spend the day and evening in the club they are not charging for the venue just for the food. Drinks at own expense!

The day will cost €50. Those who are unable to join in the evening meal, can avail of tea/coffee and lunch for €20.

Goethe-Institut Choir: Saturday June 2nd, St. Ann’s Church, Dawson Street

The Goethe Institut Choir, conducted by John Dexter, will perform Will Todd’s Mass in Blue accompanied by the Will Todd Ensemble, featuring the composer himself on piano, along with soprano Sinead O’Kelly and saxophonist Patrice Brun.  A rare opportunity to hear a performance in Ireland of this dynamic, uplifting, and highly popular jazz setting of the Latin mass.  The concert also features works by Tallis and Tartini.

A concert ticket will also give free entry to a Jazz Workshop which will be given by Will Todd in the Edmund Burke Theatre in Trinity College, Dublin at 7pm on Friday 1st June.

Ceiliúradh Choir Performs Stabat Mater by Pergolesi – Thursday May 31st

Ceiliúradh Choir, a Sandymount based vocal harmony group is performing a choral version of Stabat Mater, composed by Pergolesi, in St Mary’s Church, Anglesea Road, on Thursday 31 May.  Two of our basses, Kieran McAllister and Brian Ingoldsby are joining the group for the performance.

Dublin Symphony Orchestra – 50th Anniversary

Established by our very own Colin Block 50 years ago, the Dublin Symphony Orchestra will be celebrating its anniversary with a performance in the National Concert Hall on Wednesday, June 13th at 8:00pm.

Their first concert on 12 November 1967 was conducted by Colin and featured Veronica McSwiney performing Schumann’s Piano Concerto no.1 in A.

Tickets can be purchased through the NCH and cost €20 for adults and €10 for children.  Concession tickets cost €15.

Summer Choir – City of Dublin Chamber Choir

For those who might like to continue singing over the Summer months, The City of Dublin Chamber Choir is looking for members for an eight week period (Starting on June 26th), leading up to a performance in St. Annes Church on Dawson Street on August 19th.
